SEATTLE, July 1 /PRNewswire/ — Adaptis, a leading provider of business process outsourcing (BPO) solutions for health payers, today announced that the company has once again been named to the prestigious and highly anticipated Healthcare Informatics 15th annual Top 100 list. The compilation is published annually in the magazine’s June 2008 issue.

“The Healthcare Informatics Top 100 is an esteemed listing of the best in the healthcare industry and we are very proud to be counted among this select group,” Adaptis SVP and Chief Business Development Officer Jan Claesson said. “With our customer-focused service and technology offerings we are well- positioned to help health insurers make significant strides in their ongoing pursuit to effectively increase efficiency, improve accuracy and stay current with compliance while controlling escalating healthcare costs.”
Perhaps most representative of the value Adaptis provides health insurers is its relationship with The Community Health Plan of Washington (CHPW) which includes more than 230,000 plan members and has quadrupled in size since Adaptis began work with the plan in 1997. In recent years Adaptis helped CHPW effectively launch its medicare Advantage program. According to CHPW Chief Executive Officer Darnell Dent, “We knew it would be a push — enrollment within six months of CMS approving our medicare Advantage plan application; Adaptis teamed with us and we launched in record time. With Adaptis, partnership isn’t just a word; it’s a commitment.”
To compile the rankings, Healthcare Informatics surveys a broad range of companies that provide products and services to the healthcare sector. Only health information technology (HIT) revenues are counted to determine which companies are included in the list. This is the fifth consecutive year Adaptis has been named to this select list. Over the years Adaptis has aggressively expanded its portfolio of BPO solutions and consulting services to position itself to serve growing small-to mid-sized health payer market covering Medicaid managed care, medicare Advantage and Commercial Health Plans.

Duke University Health System to Implement Clinically Optimized, Advanced Authentication Solution From Sentillion

ANDOVER, Mass., June 9 /PRNewswire/ — Duke University health System is deploying a new advanced authentication capability from Sentillion, called Sentillion Tap & Go(TM), to streamline information systems access for its 14,000 clinical users while maintaining strong data and application security. Duke will deploy Sentillion Tap & Go on over 3,100 shared workstations.
Duke, one of the elite medical centers in the United States, according to U.S. News & World Report, is already live on Vergence, Sentillion’s clinical workstation solution which includes Single Sign-On (SSO) and context management. Now with the implementation of Tap & Go physicians and other caregivers will be able to roam throughout a defined work area and sign on to different workstations simply by tapping their standard-issue passive proximity identification badge against a workstation reader. The system will dramatically speed and simplify clinicians’ access to vital patient records and software applications that have become essential to their professional effectiveness.
“It is rare in enterprise IT today to be able to plug and play two disparate pieces of technology,” observed Karen Rourk, Director of Ambulatory EMR and Desktop Development at Duke University health System. “Sentillion Tap & Go makes our identity and access management fully complementary to our physical security system. When we implemented Vergence we experienced a dramatic savings in the amount of time it took caregivers to sign in and access their applications and now with Sentillion Tap & Go we can further reduce the time it takes to authenticate by as much as 50% — something we know our caregivers will appreciate.”
Sentillion Tap & Go is a patent-pending, advanced authentication capability that leverages standard passive proximity cards to deliver the simplest sign-on process in the healthcare industry today. Sentillion Tap & Go is easy to adopt because it leverages the same badge that organizations use for physical access. Caregivers can now use one badge for entry into the parking lot, building access, as well as single sign-on to their workstation.
With Sentillion Tap & Go, users perform a two-part authentication at the beginning of their shift by tapping their passive proximity card against a card reader and entering their password or providing other verifiable authentication such as a fingerprint biometric. Once this two-part authentication is completed, Sentillion’s technology initiates an authentication grace period. During the grace period, the user can access any other shared workstation in a defined area, such as the emergency department, simply by tapping their badge against a reader. Users only need to perform the two-part authentication when their grace period expires or when they move to an area of the hospital with a different Sentillion Tap & Go policy.
Sentillion’s identity and access management solutions are the most widely deployed in healthcare and are used daily by more than 350,000 caregivers in 560 hospitals across North America and the United Kingdom, including Eisenhower Medical Center, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Sisters of Mercy health System, Sharp HealthCare and Texas Children’s Hospital. Sentillion is responsible for the largest SSO deployment in healthcare, which presently provides access to 182 clinical applications for 42,000 users across 34 hospitals and continues to expand in all three areas.
About Duke University health System

Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network Boosts Network Health With ForeScout CounterACT

CUPERTINO, Calif., June 4 /PRNewswire/ — ForeScout Technologies, a market leader in clientless network access control (NAC) and policy management solutions for large enterprises, today announced that Lehigh Valley Hospital and health Network (LVHHN), a premier academic community hospital and health services provider in Allentown and Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, has deployed the CounterACT(TM) family of appliances to mediate access to its health services network.
According to Brian Martin, Information Security Manager for LVHHN, “Our network users — including doctors, nurses, specialists, and visiting guests — were bringing their own, sometimes infected computers into work. Some of these computers weren’t compliant with our security policies and needed OS updates, security patches or anti-virus software installed. Others were hospital property that had been used off-site, picked up malware, and began setting off alarms when they reconnected to the Lehigh network. We wanted a way to control these conditions and let users self-correct the problems.”
Martin and his colleagues began looking for a network access solution that would also detect and respond to malicious behavior that a simple intrusion detection solution would not pick up. After evaluating solutions from various NAC and infrastructure providers, the organization chose ForeScout’s CounterACT.
“I was bowled over by the detection capabilities of CounterACT,” said Martin. “That you get a two-in-one intrusion prevention and NAC solution in CounterACT just makes it that much better. Plus, you hear about NAC being tricky and difficult to deploy: that hasn’t been the case for us. The deployment was one of our smoothest. It took under a week and is now protecting over 20,000 endpoints.”
Today’s health enterprises — like Lehigh Valley — face a steady influx of vulnerabilities introduced by guests and employees who are able to bypass physical security and gain network connection inside the perimeter defenses. CounterACT addresses this problem by enforcing network security policies across all managed and unmanaged network devices, including desktops and laptops as well as non-OS devices such as VoIP phones, handhelds and network printers, without the need for a software agent of any kind.
“The Lehigh Valley health deployment demonstrates, once again, that CounterACT over-delivers on its promise to ease deployment and deliver best-in-class network access control with built-in intrusion prevention,” said Ray Wizbowski, vice president, ForeScout. “At ForeScout, we continue to exceed our customers’ requirements, helping them buy into a NAC platform and strategy that fits their security requirements today, while giving them a cost-effective policy compliance platform they can rely on in the future.”
CounterACT combines clientless network access control (NAC) and signatureless intrusion prevention to ensure all connected and connecting devices are in compliance with network security policies and are free of self-propagating threats. CounterACT seamlessly integrates into any network environment without requiring costly upgrades or infrastructure changes, and enables enterprises to tailor enforcement actions to match the level of policy violations, ensuring user disruption only occurs when it is warranted or required by the IT staff.
About ForeScout Technologies, Inc.
ForeScout specializes in network policy management for enterprises looking to secure their networks without needlessly punishing end users. The company’s network appliances are in service in over 450 enterprises in 37 countries, with customers from Banking, Education, Energy, Financial Services, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Technology and Transportation. Its flagship product, CounterACT(TM) is the world’s most deployed NAC solution: it is fast and easy for administrators to deploy, manage and maintain and offers users zero-disruption. Headquartered in Cupertino, California, ForeScout has an R&D center in Tel Aviv, Israel and offers a global sales and support network. For more about ForeScout and CounterACT, visit .

Web 2.0 Revolution Underway in Healthcare

LONDON, May 21 /PRNewswire/ — Internet developments that brought us sites such as
Facebook, YouTube and Wikipedia are now set to revolutionise healthcare,
according to a new research report from online news service and publisher,
E-Health Insider.

Titled ‘Web 2.0 in the health Sector: Industry Review with a UK
perspective’ the report concludes that new applications based on social
health networks and content generated by health service users themselves -
such as reviews of doctors and hospitals - will rapidly evolve to challenge
existing healthcare systems and create new ways of delivering our healthcare.

The research report details how the application of web 2.0 technologies
is now driving far-reaching changes in healthcare systems in the UK, USA and
Europe, a trend it terms e-health 2.0. The report says those who ignore the
deep trends of e-health 2.0 risk missing the early stages of a social,
economic and technological tectonic shift in healthcare planning and
delivery.

Sir Muir Gray, Chief Knowledge Officer of the NHS, says in his foreword
to the report: “This publication summarises some of the effects of the
revolution and identifies directions in which the revolution will drive in
future. The report of the revolution will, like all reports of revolutions,
please some people and frighten others, but the accuracy and insights are
important for all.”
Produced by award-winning online health IT news service E-Health Insider
‘Web 2.0 in the health Sector: Industry Review with UK Perspective’, examines
how participatory networked web 2.0 technologies - exemplified by Facebook,
YouTube and Wikipedia - are being applied to healthcare.

The report argues that e-health 2.0 will first and foremost be
consumer-led. health is consistently one of the most searched for subjects
online. The application of web 2.0 technologies into health is already
challenging traditional doctor-patient relationships and beginning to place
far greater power in the hands of consumers. These changes are likely to be
rapid and may prove highly disruptive.

The 108-page research report - the most comprehensive undertaken from a
UK perspective on e-health 2.0 - states that a wide range of applications
have already been developed and are in use in health, with early signs of a
groundswell of participation in the traditionally conservative healthcare
sector.

E-Health Insider Research Editor and report author Lindsey Birnsteel,
said: “Though important, this is not just about user generated content
through social networking tools, Wikis, blogs, video clips, or mash-ups. Web
2.0 technologies are now being used for new interactions between patients and
providers.”
Birnsteel pointed to the UK service Patient Opinion as a standard bearer
in connecting public feedback into the development of health services. “With
Patient Opinion the views of the public are being directly fed back into the
NHS to drive service improvements.”
Twenty e-Health 2.0 companies and organisations leading this fast
emerging sector are profiled through questionnaire and follow-up interviews.
The profiles provide a broad cross section of the wide range of e-health 2.0

USA, UK, India and Germany, and range from small start-ups to giants
including Microsoft and NHS Choices.

The profiles provide a snapshot of innovation across healthcare: from
organisations providing online communities for patients with specific
conditions, tools for chronic disease management, sites that enable patients
to rate the quality of care they receive, together with tools to enable
clinicians to better search for and share research data.

third healthcare revolution in which information technology plays an
important part.”
The report calls on leaders from all areas of healthcare to be aware of

It concludes that although at an early stage an e-health 2.0 revolution

providers, commissioners and policy makers on how to make the most of the
